ORILLIA SHRINER'S HIT PAY DIRT WITH FIRST RODEO!

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the year Ram Rodeo Tour season was the Shriner's first New Rodeo in Orillia. It started Friday night as the Shriners were in full force welcoming the Cowboys/Girls. Perry Fell and the executive of the Orillia Shriners Kicked of their first Ram Rodeo. Also Mark Schneider from the Calgary Stampede was introduced in the Opening Ram Truck as he was in town to capture the action.

With this being the Shriners first Rodeo the Rodeo more than met any expectations. The grounds were tremendous, the fans showed up and the dance was a sucess as they ran out of both Mikes Hard Lemonade and Alberta Premium Rye with their capacity crowd.

The System Fencing Arena provided perfect conditions with the competition being fierce with the Ram Championship drawing near. Break a Way Roping had 10 times all under 5 seconds. Stephanie Gregson won with a 2.6 second go. Equally exciting was Tie down Roping with Jason Thomson winning with a 9.6 second time. Team Roping saw Kevin and Brandon Hennings take the victory, putting them into Mississauga contention. Steer Wrestling was also hot seeing Tim Kemp handle his steer in 3.8 seconds.

Bull Riding saw some great match ups with Dusty McMullen winning with a 77. With a new pen of Jr. Steers James Sullivan won the Jr. Bull Riding. The girls horses were running with Joanne Fisher winning Ladies barrels and Victoria Willot taking Jr.Barrels. Pole Bending saw Amanda Fachini run a 20.4 second run which is the summers fastest time.

We are heading into perhaps the busiest September ever wiith the London Western Fair in just 2 weeks. The Mississauga Championship will be Sept 17-19 and the 2011 season will Kick off at the International Plowing match.
